Ultra Power / Bulk delete

Bulk delete ChatGPT chats

ChatGPT gives you one delete at a time: open the menu on a chat, click Delete, confirm, repeat. There is no multi-select and no select all. Ultra Power adds a checkbox to every chat in the sidebar, shift-click for a range, a select all that reaches your entire history, and one action that clears the lot. It goes to a trash first, so a mistake costs you a click and not a chat.

Four steps, whatever the number of chats

  1. 1
    Tick what you want gone

A checkbox sits on every row. Shift-click a second chat to take everything between the two. Select page takes the whole visible list.

  2. 2
    Or take all of them

Select all 1,074 means all 1,074, not the forty the sidebar has drawn. The extension keeps its own local index of your history, so select all reaches the chat you last opened in March.

  3. 3
    Read before you delete

Click into any chat to see what it actually is, untick the keepers as you go. The selection is held by the extension and never read back out of the page, so previewing, navigating and even a hard reload leave it intact.

  4. 4
    Move to trash

One action. The chats leave your list straight away and sit in the extension's trash until the restore window closes.

Verified in a browser: 300 selected, held through three chat previews, a forced sidebar re-render and a hard reload. Unticking two keepers left 298.

How long 200 chats takes

About a minute. ChatGPT's own API needs roughly three seconds per conversation, and the extension runs a batch of them in parallel rather than one after another, retrying and backing off if ChatGPT pushes back. One at a time, those same 200 chats are about ten minutes of waiting, before you count opening a menu and clicking a confirmation 200 times.

The run happens in the extension's background worker, not in the tab. Open another chat, switch to a different window, keep working. It continues and reports what went through and what failed. If a few chats fail, you get the count rather than a quiet success.

Narrow it down before you select all

Free is capped at 25 chats per action, and that is a real cap, not a trial. It does not expire, and a clean-up of 60 chats is three actions instead of one. Pro removes the cap: 9.99 USD a month, 69 a year, or 179 once. Full comparison on the pricing page.

Delete, archive, or just file it somewhere

The same selection drives more than deletion. Archive takes chats out of your list using ChatGPT's own archive, which is fully reversible on their side. Move to folder… files them without touching your account at all. Export… writes the selection to Markdown, plain text, JSON or PDF, which is worth doing before a big clear-out. And Move to trash is the destructive one, set apart from the two filing actions by a separator in the bar.

Clear the backlog

A thousand chats you will never open again, gone in about a minute, and back in one click if you were wrong.
