Ultra Power / Timestamps

Timestamps for ChatGPT

ChatGPT knows the exact second you sent every message and shows you none of it. Ultra Power puts that date and time under each message, so "when did I ask this?" has an answer you can read. It is free, it works on every conversation you already have, and nothing leaves your browser.

What ChatGPT shows, and what it keeps to itself

The sidebar groups chats into Today, Yesterday and Previous 7 days. Inside a conversation there is nothing at all: no date on a message, no time, no way to tell whether an answer is from this morning or from last spring. The information exists. ChatGPT stores a creation time for every single message, and sends it to your browser with the conversation. It just never draws it.

That matters more the longer you use it. Prices, versions, laws and advice go stale, and an answer without a date cannot tell you how stale it is.

What you get

  1. 1
    A date under every message

Yours on the right, ChatGPT's on the left, in small muted type: 24 Sept 2026, 22:06. An absolute date, not "5 minutes ago", so it still means something next year.

  2. 2
    The exact moment on hover

Rest the pointer on a date for the weekday and the seconds: Thursday, 24 September 2026 at 22:06:33.

  3. 3
The whole conversation at a glance

Open the outline from the strip beside the scrollbar. Every message is listed with its time, and the top line says when the conversation started and when its last message came.

Where the times come from

From ChatGPT itself. When you open a conversation, the extension reads that conversation's data from chatgpt.com, the same data the page already uses, and takes the creation time recorded for each message. Nothing is guessed from when you happened to open the tab, and a message you sent a year ago shows the time it was sent a year ago. Times appear in your own time zone and your own date format.

A message you have only just sent can take a few seconds to get its date, because ChatGPT has to record it first. The extension checks again on its own.

One detail we cared about. The date is not part of the message. Copy an answer, select text across it, or export the conversation, and you get what was said, without a date pasted into the middle of it.

Questions

Does it work on old conversations?

Yes. The times were recorded when the messages were sent, so every conversation in your history has them.

Does it slow ChatGPT down?

It makes one request to chatgpt.com when you open a conversation. Scrolling and typing are untouched.

Is anything sent to you?

No. There is no account and no server of ours in this. The extension talks to chatgpt.com on your behalf and to nothing else.

Is it free?

Yes, with no limit. It is part of the free plan.

Put a date on every answer
